While ConocoPhillips Canada does not currently have plans to operate in the Arctic, we engage regional stakeholders on past and prospective developments in the Mackenzie Delta and Beaufort Sea. Understanding community values and interests while sharing information on our efforts to conduct our business safely and responsibly is a key focus and is necessary in building productive and mutually beneficial long-term relationships.

Our Arctic stakeholders include Aboriginal Peoples, communities and governments who either have an interest in or could potentially be affected by our future development in the region.

As part of our engagement, we share a variety of benefits with Arctic communities. These include:

  • Community investment activities
  • Support for employment capacity building initiatives in cooperation with regional organizations
  • Benefit agreements with local Aboriginal groups, which support procurement and employment activities, with special consideration for local businesses and people
