ConocoPhillips

Our Plan

The management of air pollutants is an important part of ConocoPhillips Canada’s sustainable development efforts. To help address our commitments, we are developing an air management strategic plan to formalize and expand on our current efforts. This plan will

  • Identify existing and emerging issues.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes to current internal standards to respond to changing regulations or localized air shed concerns.
  • Identify and evaluate current and future air pollutant emission management options including technology.
  • Consider any environmental trade-offs associated with addressing air pollutant emissions management.

Working with Stakeholders

ConocoPhillips Canada was an industry co-chair of the Clean Air Strategic Alliance’s Ambient Air Monitoring Strategic Planning Team. This multi-stakeholder group brings industry, government and non-government organizations together to support solutions for a comprehensive and responsive ambient air monitoring management system for Alberta.

The team developed a strategic plan for ambient air monitoring across Alberta. We believe this proposed enhanced system provides the foundation for identifying and managing issues related to air emissions.

The strategic plan was approved by the Clean Air Strategic Alliance’s Board in 2009. The government of Alberta is considering this strategy as part of its future plans to address ambient air monitoring in Alberta.
